Goal of the activity: Emphasising with blind people and trying to understand what it feels like to accomplice simple actions in everyday life without being eye-sighted. This activity is specifically linked to the cause of Social Inclusion.

Description of the activity: Dialogue in the Dark is one of the world’s most exciting life-changing experiences where visitors are guided by blind guides in absolute darkness. You get the chance to experience daily environments from a completely new perspective, when you enjoy a walk in the park, take a boat cruise or visit a café in our specially designed darkened rooms. Daily routines become exciting and a reversal of role is created where sighted become blind and blind become sighted.

Monte Stella

  • Goal of the activity: the goal of the activity was to spend an afternoon at Monte Sella exploring the values of ESN, specifically linked to the causes of Health and Well-Being, Culture and Environmental Sustainability. We took a hike at an historical site, had aperitivo and then did a park clean up.

  • Description of the activity: Monte Stella is an historical site located in the city of Milan, it is in fact an artificial hill built up on WWII ruins. We met at the bottom of the hill and after a 20 minutes hike in the nature we reached the top, from where you can have a really nice view of the skyline of MIlan. We had aperitivo with food and drinks we brought from home and enjoyed the day until sunset. At sunset, we started our clean up, going person to person we met asking if they had things to throw away and picking up what we found on the way down. We also had a competition, whose winner was the person who picked up more trash.

We had a webinar together with "Guanti Rossi", a social organisation that deals with the world of deafness, with the intention of raising awareness about this world and its means of communication and to include deaf people in social activities, student and social life without barriers.
We also talked about the Italian Sign Language (LIS), its characteristics and peculiarities and the International Sign Language (IS).
At the end of the speech by Nicole and Martina (who translated the whole webinar in LIS), lots of questions were asked and the effects of the pandemic on this subject were explored.

What is an "International Dinner"? The event consists of a buffet dinner in which everyone has to bring typical food from its country, to give us a chance to taste the food from all over Europe and not only! The event is FREE! If you want to buy a drink there, it costs 4€.
